Moving Out

Yesterday, Jacob and I moved out of our apartment in Uptown, Minneapolis. We had been there quite a while—Jacob has been there for the last four years, and I moved in with him three years ago.

The process of moving out was long (we have a lot of stuff), arduous (We lived on the 3rd floor), and emotional (hard to say goodbye to such a great place). And I can say whole heartedly that we wrung every drop of fun out of that apartment. And that feels good. And it’s time to move on. And by "move on" I mean "travel Europe for 3 months!

We have a lot to do still-- packing, researching, shopping, and not to mention wanting to experience the last days of a Minnesota summer. It's a bit overwhelming. I just keep reminding myself that sleep is overrated--- I’ll sleep on the plane, right? (nope).

Welcome to Via Picnic

Welcome to Via Picnic, Jacob and Karina's travel blog! On September 8th, 2010, Jacob and Karina will embark on a three-month journey through central Europe. Here, we'll share our adventures with friends, family, coworkers, fellow travel enthusiasts, and random internet creeps!

Treks through Europe are expensive, and we aren't rich. Far from it. So how will we afford it? One of the ways we intend to save money along the way is through the tried art of picnicking. We'll travel Via Picnic! In each city we stop, we plan to assemble a tasty picnic made up of various local foods - be it breads, cheeses, meats, fruits, veggies, etc. - a tasty, local beverage, find a picturesque spot and enjoy. Here on this blog, we'll document the meals, post pictures, and include our other travel experiences.
