Our hotel was just a few minutes walk from from the train station. After dropping our stuff off and getting settled, we headed to lunch. We ended up eating at a food vendor within a large enclosed market (similar to the Midtown Global Market) at a place called Porks! It was quite chilly inside and we dined at picnic tables next to space heaters. Outside the market, there was another market! We picked up many fine italian goods, including a new pair of sunglasses (Finally!), and I also (Finally!) bought some chestnuts!
Afterwards we went to check out the Duomo.
Somehow we neglected to get gelato with Jacob's parents when in Rome, so we had to stop and do a taste testing in a small place away from the tourists.
What trip to Florence is complete without visiting David? No trip! So we headed over there and amazingly walked right in-- no lines or anything! Unfortunately, no pics were allowed. Use your imagination
[Insert imaginative moment]
After all the sight-seeing we were downright parched! So we picked up a few wine bottles and took them back to the hotel to do some more taste-testing before we went to dinner.
It took us a while to taste all that wine so it was pretty late when we went out-- what's for dinner? Italian duh! Delicious as always. And once again we pretty much shut the place down. We had always heard that Italians eat later in the evening then Americans. I guess Minnesotans eat later!
The next morning Jacob and I briskly walked through the city so that we could hike up to the Piazza de Michealangelo and get a view of the city.
We had a train to catch, so we walked even more briskly back, picked up some very delicious focaccia, met up with Jacob's parents, and hopped the train to meet my parents in Venice.
Jeez, we sound like we're rich or something!
